New year, new resolution. New job, new position

*This post is a continuation from previous post entitled "Farewell..."

Change for good

Just when i was about to settle down with my job in Kuching, recent news has it that our new placement will be out soon. I was not surprise at all given that the rumors of organization restructuring have been carried out few months ago. So the previous turmoil and scenario have taken its effect finally.

On the positive side of the company, the restructuring is good because there are certain areas where it is lack of personnel and therefore creates a bottleneck work flow that indirectly affect the whole organization. In addition, some of the existing staff have no choice but multitask with their current job and extra jobs given by their superior.

On the contrary, those who are going to be absorb to the new department have to learn new things from the beginning. Even from the beginning of the year when I first came to my current position, i have to take at the least 1 month to adapt myself to the environment, plus another 3 months to familiarize myself with the work. I'm not whining due to the fact I can't adapt with the work and all. Being flexible in any case is what we are built for, if it's not then what was the training for, correct?

Where do we go from here?

If given a choice, I would love to be place in Bintulu. I was once deployed to Bintulu when I had my training over there. The reason is simple, I have love Similajau a lot eversince i first came to Bintulu. And I'd love to have a visit to the beach during weekend and sunbathe on the white sandy beach. Though there are not much of entertainment compared to Kuching, well at least I could dump in some of my dime to saving account.

Sibu and Miri? I love Sibu and Miri as much as other places, but I have always been to Sibu all this while. Likewise, the living cost in Miri can be quite high. And they don't call it "The City of Oil" with no reason.

10 days and counting...

I was listening to Mix.fm this morning when i was on my way to work, and Serena was talking about this present and stuff, entertained and amused; then Serena added "It's 10 days before Christmas...". Before Serena could even finished her sentence, I said to myself, " and I haven't do my shopping yet..."

The answers

7 facts about myself...

1)
I’m very vain about how I look, especially when it comes to having a “boroi” tummy. So once in a while I would take a look on any flabby skin around my waist in the mirror. And when the mirror speaks “You are fat Jerry” (they don’t actually said that, I just made it up), I would go for a jog or go on a crash diet.

2)
I only wear jeans/slacks/khakis with the size of 30, because I would not wear anything bigger or smaller than that. The reason? When you are getting older, especially man of my age, have the potential of increasing girth on their waistline and therefore from “Jerry’s book of getting-fit Mythology” say, set only 1 size of your trousers (size that fits your waist) as a benchmark, so that it would be an indicator whether you are increasing in size or not . And when you get a breathing problem when you’re wearing them, your trousers is telling you “Watch what you eat dude!” or “go for an exercise!”

3)
I have the tendency of spending on lots of stuff when I’m stressed out. It’s true, ask my colleague.

4)
I don’t talk a lot, but I’m an observant person, being analytical and often keep things to myself, when it’s not worthy of anyone should know.

5)
I love nature a lot; the green, trees and the view...ah divine...

6)
I love reading, any book would be fine.

7)
I’m not a bossy person, so I don’t instruct people a lot. (Maybe that’s why my assistants like me)

My 6 unspectacular quirks

1)
I can’t stand a dirty or messy room; they make me want to clean or tidy them up.

2)
Whenever I’m on the road driving, I would take a glance on the opposite side of the lane, and count how many drivers PICKING THEIR NOSE!

3)
I SO...can dance those days whenever my friends and I hit the club. But I don’t do that nowadays, I’d rather seat back, relax and enjoy the view. (Maybe I’ve lost that Midas touch, hmm...)

4)
I don’t use coins a lot and carry them around. Whenever there’s a change in coin form, I would keep them in a jar.

I think at the moment that is all “unspectacular quirks” of mine that I can think of, I’ll think of the other 2 later.

7 people I tag!

-I hate to say this, but I do not wish to tag anyone at the moment. ; P

Good Movie

handsome/gorgeous actor/actress = Worth watch/Good movie

or

Good plot/storyline= Worth watch/Good movie
or

Both=Worth watch/Good movie?

This morning I was having breakfast with my colleague, and we were talking about movies that were recently out in the cinema. One of my colleague was talking about this movie (don't mind the title), and she told me how she liked it so much. So I asked her whether the movie is THAT GOOD, having said that the movie is worth watching. So she told me how good looking the actor is, the car he is driving, how romantic he is....and the compliments goes on and on and on...So I asked her, " So you like the movie because the actor is good looking?" She answered, " Yes, how i wish my boyfriend is like that." But that, doesn't answer my question at all.

It's funny how certain people classify movies that they are watching is GOOD or NOT. And yes the appearance of the actor does play the role in the movie itself, but how about the plot? Different people may have different opinion in this but for me, movie that is worth watch is a movie with good plot and twist regardless how good looking or ugly the actor is. A good storyline is like a flow of the story where you can follow-up the events/scene without getting "lost".

Unlike some of the movie I've watched before, especially scary movie that was premiered few years back. The plot was hard to follow and there were no apparent denouement, and therefore i was "lost". While some movies, I would say a "low-budget" movie that was played in the same background is like a deja-vu and not to mention...boring. Imagine you are watching zombies killing people in an airplane, with the same action again and again. Chasing after a passenger and kill them, then the passenger became zombie and attack another passenger...how boring is that?

*Okay, enough whining* So what say you? How do you classify a "good movie"? A movie worth watching without feeling sorry after you spend a few dime in that pocket and a few hours of your time.

P/s: Ok Oli, I owe you one, I'll catch up with you later. ;P

Egois

This is my first time writing a poem in Malay language. I don't know why i write this poem, to be frank, it's just that i needed something to convey my feeling, something worth more than words from mouth can say.

Mengapa terlalu egois insan?

Tatkala merenung masa depan yang hiba,

Mengapa membisu seribu bahasa?

Bukankah kesalahan dulu telahpun diampuni?

Mengapa kau ulangi kesalahan itu,

Bukankah telah diungkapkan dahulu?

Mengapa tidak amarahku membuak?

Kerana api malapku kau semburkan minyak.

Bersih suci hatimu dulu,

Bagai cindai putih tiada hiasan,

Bak kata peribahasa melayu,

Kerana setitik nira rosak susu sebelanga.

Sempat kau bersujud wahai insan,

Merenung keatas Yang Maha Esa,

Masih hati memandang hina,

Dengan kehadiran kudrat disekelilingmu.

Masih lagi egoismu itu?

Terperuk di dalam kotak hatimu?

Guna kotak diatas kepalamu,

Bukan yang ada didalam dadamu itu.

Ya, aku juga sedar siapa diriku,

Tidak kurang sama denganmu,

Biarlah pena hatimu berhenti menulis,

Tiraikan noktah, dan sembuhkan hatimu yang terhiris.

God's colour matching

Ever wonder why green trees are paired with its brown coloured trunk or bark? And white sandy beaches coordinate with the blue coloured ocean? It’s amazing how God matches things surround us with beautiful colours, the colours that synchronize with each other like the tree and the beach I was mentioned earlier.

This morning I have problem choosing uniform that matches the colour of my pant. As I was browsing through my closet, I found a uniform that was a given as a gift from seed bank some time ago when I was having my practical training. The uniform is white in colour with green collar so I rarely wear it because white colours can easily get dirty.

But today is an exceptional, most managers are coming down to our department for a meeting so I have no choice but wearing the only uniform left in the closet, since the other one is still in the laundry. As I was putting it on, I can almost see a 5 footer tree standing in front of the mirror, green shirt with brown pant = green leaves and brown trunk, “perfect match!” I thought. And then I grinned. I didn’t even realize that mom was behind observing me all the while so she asked me, “What’s with the smile?” I replied, “It’s pretty amazing how God’s creation inspires people to think.”
